Priestacott House
This imposing Edwardian residence, which has only just become available for holiday rentals, is to be found deep in the heart of Ruby Country in its own 70 acres of outstanding countryside. The tiny hamlet of Priestacott nestles in the River Torridge valley and offers delightful south facing views over rolling countryside and on to Dartmoor. Priestacott House offers large families or groups of friends a relaxed atmosphere and being centrally situated is ideal to allow you to experience the very best that Devon and Cornwall can offer. The spacious accommodation, full of original features and furniture, is ideal for larger groups and families and short breaks are welcome. A visit to Priestacott House is to taste true country house living; with a Rayburn in the kitchen, woodburning stoves and original oak floors this house dates back to the turn of the last century and exudes character and charm.
There are five bedrooms, several with fantastic views, a sumptuous dining room and a wonderfully appointed drawing room. Outside, as part of the stables (you are welcome to bring your own horses), there is a games room and during the summer months a grass tennis court. There is much to do in the local area, and indeed to walk over the seventy acres where peace and quiet abound is truly breathtaking. Whatever the season, enjoy the tranquillity of this remarkable house, wander through the orchard and the meadow down to the lake, try a little fishing (rods provided) or escape to the timber hut and observe the abundance of fauna and flora that this location offers. Enjoy a game of tennis on the grass court or cook up a barbeque, the choice is entirely yours. Later sit by the wood burning stove in the drawing room and reminisce over the day's events at dinner in the elegant dining room with antique dining table. A truly exceptional house retaining so much character and yet equipped with modern comforts and facilities.
