Food For Thought - suggestions for eating in or out

With an abundance of excellent restaurants, famous chefs, and a vast array of genuine local produce and farmers' markets, the West Country is now a gourmet's paradise.

At Elite West we take our food very seriously. We appreciate that a lovely holiday home is complemented by the opportunity to eat well and enjoy the hospitality of the region. Here we have put together a fairly detailed list of restaurants that we think you will enjoy visiting, farm shops that sell locally produced meats, cheeses, and vegetables, and our home chef service where you can have ready prepared meals delivered to your door or a full chef and waitress service to provide a dinner party in your own holiday home.

We believe in the importance of buying food locally: not only is it more environmentally friendly and helps to support the local economy but, in this era of mass production and uniformity, it gives you the chance to savour and celebrate regional differences.

If you would like shopping delivered please contact Andrew John of Lansdown Dairy. This is a traditional delicatessen in the heart of Bude which offers a mouth-watering selection of items. You can order everything from fresh fruit and vegetables, cold meats and cheeses to tins of baked beans, milk and cereal. If you contact Andrew via email at andrewjohn@lansdowndairy.freeserve.co.uk he will look after you very well and have your shopping at your house for when you arrive.

If you wish to use supermarkets, there is a Waitrose in Holsworthy or you can order from them on-line and have your purchases delivered direct to your holiday home. Sainsbury's has just arrived in Bude and they have stated that they will be offering home delivery services shortly. Bude also has a large Morrisons and a small Co-op.

We hope you enjoy browsing through some of what we have put together and that this enhances your stay with us. If we can be of any assistance or can advise further please just let us know.
